From the very beginning, our congregation has embodied prayerful steps of FAITH. In 1972, several founding families began a public Bible study which would become the Evangelical Free Church of Geneva. Careful study and application of the Scriptures were two of the most prominent motivations for that group.
By the fall of 1973, the decision had been made to officially be recognized as a "church". During those early months as a church group, more families and individuals connected to the core group and joined in the Bible studies, youth programs and outreach events. Within those first several months, decisions were made to hire the first missionary & begin the search for a permanent meeting space.
Throughout our history, members have reached out to the community through Bible study groups, VBS programs, special speakers, Bible camps, and youth programming.
Every season of ministry has been a growing time for our church. As we think back on our history, we can see some common themes:
Biblical Base - Standard of no compromise in regard to God's Word
Stepping Out in Faith - From buildings and programs to mission efforts
Outreach - Always refocusing on the "world around us"
Leadership Trust/Unity - Even in difficult issues
On Sunday September 24, 2023 we gathered together to break bread together & share stories of God's faithfulness over the past 50 years.
Worthy of mention from that evening was the presence of three of our former pastors and our Midwest District Superintendent and the celebration of retiring our debt for the new addition to our building (which included much needed at the time classrooms spaces, a large fellowship area ["GBR" - Great Big Room] & larger kitchen space, new nursery spaces as well as on site office spaces).
